The headline Provost Innovation Award at this year’s Trinity College Dublin ceremony was given to Prof John O’Leary for his work in pathology.

The 2021 Trinity Innovation Awards were celebrated at an in-person event on 22 February.

SiliconRepublic.com spoke to Trinity College Dublin provost Prof Linda Doyle on the night to find out more.

“We’re honouring all of those researchers in Trinity who’ve actually turned that research into innovation and these awards, I suppose, are our chance once a year to do that and to acknowledge the great work that they’ve done,” she said.

“Typically it ranges from people involved in spin-out companies, those spin-out companies that are in the very commercial spaces, through to social innovation. It’s for individuals who are starting and individuals who have been really successful.
