Google team drives the creation of 19 new digital marketing jobs in Irish firms

5 Mar 2013

Up to 19 jobs have been created in Irish companies as a direct result of the work of Google’s Large Customer Sales (LCS) division in helping educate the CEOs and marketing teams of Irish companies about digital marketing, Google said today.

The division, which is headed by Shane Nolan, works with Irish businesses to help them understand the drivers of successful business online.

According to Nolan, 19 jobs have been created in Irish companies as a direct result of the work of the LCS team.

A number of businesses have subsequently either created new digital departments where none existed before, or have added capacity to existing digital departments.

The companies concerned include Boyle Sports and Chill Insurance, and key platforms explored by the team and firms included mobile and video-based marketing.

“We’ve always said that there is a huge opportunity for Irish businesses if they learned to exploit the online opportunity and our work in the past year proves that,” Nolan said.

“A significant number of companies have seen exponential growth and created additional jobs in digital marketing as a result of their work with our LCS team. Our work is having a very positive impact, both in terms of protecting existing jobs and creating new ones. If we could get more Irish businesses online and each hiring just one or two additional people to focus on digital marketing, it would make a real difference,” Nolan added.
