Dr Mary T Kelly has been appointed Scientific Programme Officer, Biotechnology Directorate with Science Foundation Ireland. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from UCD before moving to the University of Georgia (UGA) as a Fulbright scholar where she received her PhD in 1999 from the Department of Microbiology. Over the past four years she has worked with a number of different microarray systems, right through from printing the arrays to the analysis of data. Her career to date has maintained a healthy balance between primary research and the training and mentoring of others.
