Now in its 12th run, Career Zoo descends on The Convention Centre in Dublin for its final jobs networking event of 2016 on 15 October.

A home of both employers and jobseekers, Career Zoo’s October edition will see engineering, finance, biotech and IT companies converge on The Convention Centre for the seven-hour event.

Featuring a new tech consultant as part of the organising team, Career Zoo will again host panel discussions with industry leaders on topics including the future of tech, cybersecurity, fintech, big data and biotech.

“Because of the calibre of candidates attending the event, we’ve really upped our game,” said Brian Ó hOisín, director of Career Zoo.

“Some participating companies are literally taking things to the next level with two-storey stands, where they’ll run activities such as tech workshops throughout the day.”

With registration for Career Zoo open, Ó hOisín said “strong interest from experienced candidates” has already seen an international blend of those looking to attend.

The event’s new tech consultant is Vicky Twomey-Lee, who is organising workshops to run throughout the day. With a strong pedigree in the Irish tech community, Twomey-Lee has had a hand in the creation or running of Coding Grace, PyLadies, Dublin GameCraft and other events.

Twomey-Lee’s role is to oversee the agenda and format for all hacks and coding workshops at the event.

The February 2016 edition saw an estimated 8,000 jobseekers attend Career Zoo and more of the same is expected in October.

Ó hOisín said: “The majority of tech candidates who have so far registered for Career Zoo this October have more than five years’ professional experience. They are highly skilled and are working in the most exciting sectors driving the Irish and international economies.”

Last year at Career Zoo, Twomey-Lee took time out to talk to Siliconrepublic.com about the tech industry.
