With people from all over the world choosing Ireland as a place to live and work, we speak to those that have put down roots in the country. This time, we talk to Clotilde Radiguet, who works at Dropbox Dublin.
Where are you from?
I have been living in Copenhagen over the past two years but I’m originally from Paris, la Ville Lumière. The magic of this city is that there is always something new to discover or to experience.
How long have you been in Ireland?
It’s been almost six months since I moved here – can’t believe how time flies!
Why did you move here?
Before joining Dropbox I used to work in the fashion industry. Even though I had a real passion for what I was doing, I realised that I needed to do something more dynamic and impactful, something that makes people’s lives easier. So, the tech industry was an obvious move for me!
What work do you do?
I’m part of the recruiting team. Our mission is to find great and talented people for building the Dublin office. We are travelling all over Europe to go and meet people. It’s really exciting!
How would you describe your working environment?
Light years away from what I was used to! Dropbox is fast, innovative and flexible. One can take a decision in the morning and see the project live in the afternoon. True story.
What do you like most about your job?
As part of my job, I love meeting and speaking with new people everyday. Applicants come from all over the world, and share with us their own story. It’s very enriching and inspiring.
Was it difficult to adjust to living and working in Ireland?
A little bit. The most difficult aspect is to learn to drive on the left side of the roads. That’s why I’ve decided to stick to my bike for now!
What surprised you about moving to Ireland?
I heard before moving that the Irish were welcoming people, but I’m still amazed at how friendly and helpful they are.
How does your working life help to make you feel at home in Ireland?
My colleagues are more than just colleagues. It can sound a bit cheesy but we’re like a family here. We work hard to ensure that Dropbox Europe is successful, and the rest of the time we hang out and have fun together.
What do you like most about your adopted home?
The multicultural face of Dublin and the fact that it’s a seaside town. What’s better than to have a walk along the sea on a Sunday afternoon?
