Today we begin our countdown of Ireland’s top jobs announcement stories of 2012. It was the year companies in sectors that are thriving despite the downturn – technology, science and pharma – created jobs in their organisations, ranging from multinationals to start-ups.

Agri-food and food innovation company Kerry Group, for example, announced 900 jobs, betting giant Paddy Power proclaimed 800 new jobs, and financial services giant Northern Trust revealed it would be hiring to fill 400 positions.

To celebrate a year of jobs announcements, Siliconrepublic.com has dedicated the month of December to the top 50 most popular jobs announcements of 2012. The list contains a myriad of companies, large and small, creating opportunities across Ireland.

Below we begin our countdown of the 50 most-viewed jobs announcement stories of 2012.

	50 – Workday to create 100 new technology jobs in Dublin Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) enterprise player Workday is to create 100 new jobs in Dublin over the next three years as part of an IDA Ireland-supported investment. Workday, headquartered in the US, employs more than 950 people worldwide.
	49 – E-commerce player Realex creates 50 new jobs in Dublin ‘Silicon Docks’ expansion Dublin-headquartered international e-payments firm Realex Payments announced 50 new jobs at its city centre offices, bringing total employment at the firm to 170 people by the end of next year. 	48 – 50 jobs to be created at ArisGlobal office in Dublin Software provider ArisGlobal has decided to open an office in Dublin, creating 50 new jobs to add to its 700-strong workforce worldwide. Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, TD, made the announcement and ArisGlobal is said to be actively recruiting for the positions. ArisGlobal provides innovative software solutions for pharmacovigilance and safety, regulatory affairs, clinical research and medical information to hundreds of companies in the life-sciences sector. The company has offices in India, the US, the UK, Japan and Europe, and now plans to expand its operations in Ireland through a new office in Dublin.
	47 – IBM to create several hundred new jobs at Dublin Global Services Hub IBM is to create several hundred new jobs at a new Global Services Integration Hub in Mulhuddart as part of an IDA Ireland-supported investment. IBM Ireland employs more than 3,000 people in Ireland and its business activities include research, software development and services at its technology campus in Mulhuddart, together with locations in Cork and Galway. A European Sales and Services Support Centre is based in Blanchardstown, Dublin.
