DIT is offering 300 places in its Labour Market Activation (LMA) programmes for those who are unemployed, which includes courses in iPhone app programming and accessible web design.

The LMA offers a range of upskilling and reskilling opportunities for those who are unemployed and wish to enter or continue with education this year.

One hundred per cent funding is provided, covering tuition and registration fees, and eligible applicants will still receive their jobseeker allowance and benefits while in these courses.

Three hundred students are currently registered in these programmes and a further 300 places are now available. The programmes start in January 2011.

The programmes include iPhone Applications Programming, Electrical Services Engineering and Accessible Web Design.

Courses also include Geographical Information Systems and Technology, Enterprise Development and Green IT.

Potential participants must have a receipt of unemployment payment for at least three consecutive months prior to joining the programme.

DIT will hold an open day in its institute on Aungier Street, Dublin 2, on 4 December, which will have an upskill stand for any enquiries.
