Irish online recruiter’s global expansion continues apace

13 Jul 2011

Irish online recruitment company Saongroup.com, one of the fastest-growing online recruiters in the world, has expanded into the Central American market.

The company announced the completion of its geographic presence in the Central American online recruitment market, where it trades as Tecoloco.com, with a launch of the company in Nicaragua. The company has opened an office in the country’s capital, Managua; with a dedicated market website.

Tecoloco.com, which was founded in El Salvador in 2001, was acquired by Saongroup.com in 2008, and has become one of the major online success stories in the Central American region. With offices in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica, Tecoloco.com has by far the biggest database in Central America, holding close to 1m CVs in its system at the end of June 2011.  This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 46pc.

“The launch of Tecoloco.com in Nicaragua completes Saongroup.com’s presence in every country across Central America,” said Ciaran McCooey, chief executive, Saongroup.com. “Nicaragua’s internet penetration is the lowest in the region at just over 10pc, but with internet penetration on the rise, this market represents an exciting opportunity for Saongroup.com, particularly as the economy is beginning to show positive signs of growth.”

After three static years and a decline in 2009, Nicaragua, which has a population of 5.6m, has started to expand economically, with an impressive estimated 4.5pc growth rate in 2011.

Saongroup.com is one of the fastest-growing online recruitment companies in the world with operations in Ireland, the UK, Europe, the USA, China, South Africa, Central America and the Caribbean.

In May 2011, Saongroup.com announced a major expansion of its business in China, to almost 100 cities from its current base of 25. Investing significantly in the expansion programme, it announced immediate openings for senior management positions based throughout China.
