The Google Nexus S smartphone powered with the latest Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ operating system went on sale today at Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse stores.
The new smartphone made by Samsung ranges in price from €49 to €109, depending on which bill-pay deal customers sign up for. To mark the launch, all new bill-pay customers and qualifying upgrades will get the device for free.
The device boasts the first 4-inch Super Clear LCD Contour Display. It has a WVGA 480 x 800 resolution and it benefits from the new oleophobic protection against stains and fingerprints.
It has a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB internal and is supported by a 1GHz Samsung processor and a built-in graphic processor.
“It’s great news that our customers will be the first to get access to the Nexus S from Google direct through our stores,” said Stefano Gastaut, consumer director of Vodafone Ireland.
“At Vodafone, we work closely with our partners across the industry to offer our customers a leading smartphone range that includes the latest innovations in product and user experience,” Gastaut said.
