Cork-based Milestone creates 80 jobs to expand European operations

1 Feb 2022

Milestone Solutions provides IT and automation services to multinational manufacturers in areas such as life sciences, pharma, and food and beverage.

Irish IT and automation company Milestone Solutions is expanding its operations into mainland Europe and plans to create 80 new jobs.

Spread between Cork and Europe, the jobs will include engineering roles in automation, computer systems validation, commissioning and qualification, validation and process, as well as project management.

Founded in 2008 by chartered engineer Will Wilmot, Milestone helps large multinational manufacturing companies to plan, deliver and commission new facilities or upgrade sites. It works with companies in the life sciences, pharma, and food and beverage industries.

Milestone is already engaged in business in Europe, with a strategic partnership with a company in Switzerland and projects in the pipeline in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

The Cork-headquartered company currently supports more than 100 jobs in Ireland, and new roles are expected to be filled within the next two years.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney, TD, welcomed the new jobs announcement and said that Ireland has “established itself as a global leader” in life sciences, pharma, and food and beverage. “Milestone is using that expertise to grow their own business and help export some of that leadership to facilities across Europe,” he added.

The company has named Peter Davies, a former operations director for Hyde Engineering and Consulting, as Milestone’s new managing director of European operations.

Davies said he was delighted to join Milestone “at this point in its growth journey” and that Irish engineers have a proven track record in helping deliver and commission manufacturing plants for the businesses that have set up sites in Ireland over recent decades.

“The Irish have helped set the gold standard expertise in commissioning and upgrading critical manufacturing plants, and we believe that experience can help existing and new multinationals achieve more across the continent,” he said.

He added that Milestone looks forward to welcoming “an extremely talented group of new colleagues to meet what we expect will be significant demand for our services across Europe”.
