Launching major Irish careers event Career Zoo, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD highlighted that vacancies for skilled professionals exist across the economy, particularly in IT.
The event is taking place in the Mansion House on 10 and 11 September and is aimed at hiring qualified professionals and graduates for jobs in this country, as well as highlighting professional courses, upskilling programmes and enterprise opportunities.
“If we are to get out of this crisis, we must not only be highly ambitious about the number of jobs we can create in Ireland, but also ensure that we have skilled candidates available to fill the positions that are available. A key challenge for Government is to ensure that our education and training infrastructures can respond to this need,” said Minister Bruton.
“Career Zoo is an important event which will bring together the companies with vacancies with those skilled professionals who can fill those roles.”
The event will take place over two days with 50 Irish and international companies, professional bodies, educators, recruiters and enterprise organisations in attendance.
10,000 attendees expected
The first Career Zoo held in Ireland last January was attended by 7,000 candidates and over 10,000 visitors are expected to attend this next event.
Career Zoo is supported by The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, the National Recruitment Federation, The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and Dublin City Council. It is sponsored by the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology (IRCSET), Hays Recruitment Experts Worldwide and Valeo Vision Systems. Media partners are Siliconrepublic.com, The Sunday Times and Newstalk.
Over the past decade the Government has invested heavily in research with a near doubling of PhD level skills in Ireland, contributing across all sectors of the economy.
Through the participation of IRCSET (the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology), over 500 postgraduates in the sciences, engineering and technology will attend seminars and visit potential employers at the event.
Admission is free for attendees and you can register online here.
