Medtech giant BD is currently recruiting talent for its new research centre in Limerick.

The medtech sector is growing all the time, especially in Ireland. With hundreds of jobs popping up within the industry and technology advancing all the time, it’s a good time for medtech graduates and jobseekers to gain opportunities.

BD is one of the leading medtech companies globally. It has a number of facilities in Ireland, including a brand new research centre based in Limerick near the company’s already established facility.

The new building, entitled Research Centre Ireland, will mainly focus on product development, and BD is currently looking to hire for 100 new positions within the facility, bringing a large number of life sciences and medtech jobs to Limerick.

We spoke to R&D site director Kieran O’Gorman to find out more about BD and its new research centre.

“BD has a long history in Ireland for approximately 50 years.” He said the company has sites in Drogheda and Dún Laoghaire along with the existing facility in Limerick.

We asked O’Gorman about what BD is specifically looking for.

“Research Centre Ireland represents BD’s continued investment in Ireland,” he said. “It’s an 80,000 sq ft facility and we are in the process of recruiting for approximately 100 new associates, specifically in the areas of project management, systems engineering, software development, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.”

O’Gorman said that in BD’s recruitment for Research Centre Ireland, it is looking to build a team that is committed to advancing the world of health. “We have a highly skilled workforce that is culturally diverse,” he said.

“BD continues to invest in Limerick based on the exceptional talent pool,” said O’Gorman, specifically citing University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology.

“We are proud to work for a global healthcare company whose products and services make a difference to people’s lives.”
