IoT, biotech and deep data to feature at Career Zoo this March

22 Feb 2017

The first of two Career Zoos in 2017 is taking place this March, and major employers will come from the exciting sectors of IoT, biotech and deep data.

Now established as one of the biggest events of the sci-tech calendar, Career Zoo is returning to the Convention Centre Dublin on 11 March for its latest event, which will link hopeful graduates and jobseekers with some of the country’s biggest employers.

Typically having attendances of more than 7,000 at each event, Career Zoo has revealed it will have companies from some of the fastest-growing sectors around.

Employers hiring at the event next month will include e-commerce player Jet.com, internet of things (IoT) company PTC, and biopharma players BMS and Amgen.

Performance marketing engine Criteo and Qualtrics will also take part, as some of the world’s largest machine learning and software companies.

In addition to leading employers, the event’s line-up will include panel discussions focused on topics such as IoT, future tech, fintech, machine learning, big data and biotech.

There will also be coding workshops, hacks, a series of talks on promoting diversity in tech, and a ‘Game of Threats’ cybersecurity workshop.

Jackie Slattery, director and co-founder of Career Zoo, said: “The past 12 months have seen some challenges for employers, but also lots of exciting opportunities.

Career Zoo after Brexit

“Across the Atlantic, the new US administration is bedding down, which means there will be greater certainty for employers about economic priorities and opportunities for global growth.

“In the wake of Brexit, meanwhile, Ireland will become the sole English-speaking country in the EU. With our excellent track record in sectors such as tech, biopharma and financial services, employers here will be well-positioned to capitalise on the opportunities that presents.”

Meanwhile, Slattery added that the March event will continue to promote diversity with a new partnership with InterTech Ireland, a group that promotes LGBT+ diversity and inclusion in the Irish technology sector.

“At the next Career Zoo event, we will have several workshops with a specific focus on diversity, and a main stage panel discussion with representatives from InterTech Ireland,” Slattery said.

“[The fact] that companies are increasingly geared towards diversity is a sure sign that employees are setting the scene for their workplace culture.”
