If you’re thinking of relocating to Bristol for a tech job, you might want to know what’s in demand.

Bristol is considered one of the most vibrant tech hubs in the UK. We have already looked closely at Brisol’s sci-tech ecosystem and concluded that it is one of many excellent cities for tech workers to set up shop.

For those considering relocating, there are many positives to the beautiful Bristol, from its advances in robotics to some of the top tech giants that have settled there.

But relocating is a big decision, and tech workers will no doubt want to know a lot more than simply what the sci-tech scene looks like.

Tech workers thinking about moving to Bristol will want to know what kind of jobs are there for them. They’ll also want to know the most in-demand skills that Bristolian employers are crying out for.

Finally, they’ll want to know what kind of salary they can command if they do make the move. After all, cost of living in a new location will be directly related to the kind of income you have.

Luckily, we’ve recruited some expert help in the search for the key information you need. According to Hays, developers and engineers are most in demand in Bristol. Specifically, Bristol is looking for software engineers above all else in the world of tech, followed by web developers and software testers.

For those in Java development and systems engineering, their skills won’t go amiss either, and a Java developer’s average salary in Bristol would be around £47,000.

While it didn’t make the top five hottest jobs, cybersecurity roles are still in demand in Bristol, as they are all over the world. With cybersecurity issues growing all the time and the talent pool still struggling, an information security architect can command an average salary of £55,000.

In general, the public sector is the largest employment sector in Bristol, at almost 30pc.

The situation looks even better when you take the Hays 2018 Salary Guide into consideration. Its results show that almost three-quarters of UK employers are planning on recruiting staff during the next 12 months.
