11 Feb 2019

IT service provider Version 1 will create 40 specialist IT jobs for the Munster region.

A new Munster headquarters in Cork for IT service provider Version 1 will see the company create 40 new roles.

The office was officially opened today (11 February) by the Lord Mayor of Cork City Mick Finn and An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney, TD.

The new Cork office will see Version 1 increase its workforce in the region to 75 technology professionals by 2021. The expansion will support the Irish company’s continuous growth strategy and help provide enhanced digital and cloud services to its customer base in Cork and the wider Munster region.

Version 1’s CEO Tom O’Connor said this was an exciting time for the company as it continues to grow in the Cork and Munster region.

“Our people are the heart of Version 1, and we have invested significantly in creating a great workplace for our employees. We look forward to welcoming 40 new Version 1 people to our business in Cork,” he said.

“Version 1 is an avid supporter of the ongoing efforts for Cork to be recognised as a vibrant hub for indigenous and international enterprise and we are proud to work collaboratively with many of the local business, technology and educational associations to support the attraction of more graduates and highly skilled IT talent in the region.”

Version 1 currently employs more than 1,200 people across 10 office locations in Ireland, the UK and India, with 800 of its employees based in Ireland.

The 40 new roles in Cork will be created over the next 24 months and will include opportunities for experienced digital and cloud IT professionals, and technology graduate roles.

The company’s Munster office is led by Alan Crowley. He is responsible for leading teams of Version 1’s specialist consultants, with a particular focus on digital and cloud services.

He said that Version 1 provides innovative services such as automation and global IT projects, digital projects in agritech and internet of things, and cloud projects in healthcare. He added that these services make a real difference to the company’s customers in Cork.

“I am excited that Version 1 will be part of Cork’s increasing brand as a hub for indigenous and multinational business alike,” said Crowley.

This follows a jobs announcement from Galway-based tech firm Joulica, which plans to double its staff and another from IT recycler AMI, which plans to create 30 roles in Dublin and Belfast.
