Monica Parker shares her personal trauma and how it led her to embrace vulnerability in her working life.
At Inspirefest 2017, Monica Parker taught us that we only have two innate fears: heights and falling. All other fears, she explained, are learned, be it because they are culturally ingrained or born of negative experience.
After seeing a quote by CS Lewis during a turbulent period in her life – “You cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad” – Parker realised that the way she was living could not continue and that she too would have to either hatch or go bad.
She knew she had to gather up all her knowledge about change, and she now shares this with people through her company, Hatch Analytics.
According to Parker, striking the balance between vulnerability and agency will best create resiliency.
