Dublin content management system (CMS) software firm TerminalFour has beaten major enterprise and open-source vendors in a bid to win a deal with a major US university.
University of Virginia’s (UVa) School of Nursing ranks among the top 5pc of nursing schools in the US, and TerminalFour’s enterprise CMS will power its website.
The company won out amidst competition from domestic and global enterprise software vendors.
TerminalFour puts the success of its bid down to its ease of use, powerful features and price point. The deal marks the company’s first content management contract with a US university.
As the primary communications tool in UVA’s School of Nursing’s ongoing global recruitment drive and the information hub of its academic and research programmes, the existing website needed the ability to manage an exponential growth in content.
Due to the overwhelming volume of information traversing the site, scalability limitations and publishing bottlenecks, the decision was made to overhaul the website and invest in web content management.
TerminalFour Site Manager has simplified the online publishing process for the school by removing the requirement that only web developers can publish updates.
This has freed up developer time to concentrate on higher-value IT projects, improving efficiencies in the website redevelopment and in ongoing maintenance.
The software also allows the UVa School of Nursing’s many departments to take ownership of their online content.
“The web project was a massive undertaking which was driven by increases in the demand for online information resources by current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and the research community,” explained Piero Tintori, CEO and founder of TerminalFour.
