Microsoft bouncing back with 160 new roles in Dublin EMEA HQ

15 Dec 2015

It seems that, at least when it comes to its Irish operations, Microsoft is bouncing back from a difficult period with the news it’s to create 100 new jobs in its EMEA HQ in Dublin, along with 60 intern positions.

For more than a-year-and-a-half, Microsoft, under its CEO Satya Nadella, has been in the midst of a worldwide workforce restructuring, with the company cutting 7,800 jobs in its smartphone division, as part of an earlier announced cut of 18,000 jobs announced in 2014.

Now, however, the company says that it has room to grow its EMEA division, with its base in Sandyford, Dublin to see 100 new positions filled, starting from now.

Microsoft says it is recruiting people for a range of positions, including service, process and software engineers, data analytics experts, programme managers, finance experts, channel and technical account management, device demand planners, supply chain experts, operations, sales and marketing.

Additionally, Microsoft plans to recruit 60 intern positions across a variety of roles.

More than 30 years in Ireland

This good news for the company comes following its announcement back in March that it was going full steam ahead with the construction of its new €134m campus in Leopardstown, Dublin, not far from its current HQ.

Speaking about the announcement and its plans for 2016, Cathriona Hallahan, managing director of Microsoft Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to offer this opportunity to 160 talented people to join Microsoft.  Our new colleagues will have an opportunity to influence how this vision is delivered for customers across the globe.

“Microsoft in Ireland is a global hub for many parts of our operations and development teams. That means that there are great career opportunities for people – many of whom will have a European or global role while being based in Dublin.”

This latest jobs announcement will take their employee numbers above 1,300, having grown from 100 positions when the company first moved here in 1985.
