Prim-Ed Publishing to recruit 27 staff at Irish HQ in New Ross

5 Feb 2016

Irish educational company Prim-Ed is to double its Irish workforce in New Ross, Wexford to 54, with 27 staff to be hired over the next five years.

Prim-Ed Publishing has been working within the Irish and UK educational resources market for over 20 years now as providers of traditional workbooks, but also e-books and online teacher aids, and it now plans to expand its Irish and international workforce.

The move comes following a €15m investment made by MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland and AIB Corporate Banking to fund Prim-Ed’s buy-out of its partner RIC Publications, which will introduce Prim-Ed to its markets in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Malaysia.

What this means that for its Irish workforce is its headquarters in New Ross will see 27 staff recruited over the next five years, doubling its existing numbers there.

The company currently employs 46 staff across its operations in Ireland, the UK and Spain, with this jobs creation to bring its total numbers to 73, and it has also revealed further jobs are to be created in the UK where Prim-Ed Publishing has doubled its sales over the past two years.

‘A truly international publishing company’

Recruitment for the jobs has already begun in the roles of marketing, sales and finance departments with New Ross handling all of Prim-Ed’s global marketing and financial activity following the expansion.

“This is a landmark move for what is now a truly international publishing company, which started out in the front room of my own home 22 years ago,” said Prim-Ed’s CEO Seamus McGuinness.

“We have built up an incredible team at Prim-Ed Publishing and we’ve been very proud and fortunate to work with amazing teachers in Ireland, the UK and elsewhere to tailor our resources to the specific needs of very diverse classrooms, environments and curricula right across the globe.”
