Fast-growing Irish IT security firm Espion, which is targeting growth in the US$49bn global security services market, has created 15 new jobs on the back of unprecedented demand driven by the rising tide of cyber attacks.
Espion said this morning it has just experienced its best year ever, growing turnover 40pc.
The 15 new jobs will be in areas such as forensics, e-discovery, governance, information security and R&D. Two of the positions will be based in the UK.
“As the volume of data increases so, too, do the risks to organisations. The number of high profile cyber attacks and data leakages coupled with more compliance mandates for regulated industries has made information security a more pressing concern for organisations,” Espion managing director Colmán Morrissey explained.
In 2012, Espion’s team grew from 32 to 51 and the firm continued its overseas expansion, opening offices in Brussels to support its Europe-wide success as a provider of e-discovery and digital forensics to international law firms.
Espion also elevated its UK presence by adding an additional office to support its increasing UK client portfolio.
Espion signed a partnership with Motorola Solutions to distribute its wireless network products in Ireland and the UK.
Having a dedicated R&D department has also enabled the firm’s involvement in a number of partnership consortium submissions under the EU FP7 Security and ICT Calls.
It is estimated this deal will generate €1m worth of sales in 2013.
“In recent years, our strategy has been to leverage our internationally recognised industry standards (ISO, PCI) and capitalise on brand Ireland’s positive international IT reputation to expand our business overseas.
“As a result, we are delighted to be in the position to recruit new consultants to support our international expansion,” Morrissey said.
