Whitespace Publishing Group has an opening for a sub-editor to work in-house as part of a busy editorial team. The key skills required are:
- Solid production, copy-editing and proofreading skills, with at least two years’ subbing/layout experience
- A keen eye for detail and mastery of English grammar and punctuation
- Strong project management skills and proven ability to manage several projects at once
- The ability to work well as part of a team, with editors, designers and salespeople
- A good knowledge of/interest in technology, business and current affairs
- Computer skills: Adobe InDesign, Quark XPress, Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop
- Fully web literate with the ability to adapt to new technologies as they emerge
- Experience of adapting content for an online audience
- Experience using web-content applications, content management systems, picture editing, picture management
- Applicants must be able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Due to the nature of the job, some flexibility in working hours will be required
- A formal qualification in journalism is desirable but not essential. A proven track record in publishing will be equally valued.
