Excellence, talent and impact are the core themes of Innovation 2020, the Government’s strategy for research and development in Ireland.
The strategy document was officially launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, at the Innovation Showcase in the Convention Centre Dublin.
Both the country leader and the jobs minister leaned heavily on the talent pillar as they spoke at the event, and the strategy itself is largely modelled on the Action Plan for Jobs.
“It’s very clear we have to take a step-change now if we want to sustain our ambition of full employment at high and growing living standards,” said Minister Bruton. “Talent will be the key to it, particularly talent in key enabling technologies.”
