Google+ app is coming to iOS devices

Google is readying a mobile app version of its new social networking ecosystem Google+ for iOS devices such as the iPhone and the iPad, a company executive said last night.

Google technician Ericha Joy let it be known on a Google+ status update that Google has already submitted an application for approval on the Apple App Store.

An Android version of Google+ is out on a field trial among a few users and a mobile web version works pretty well.

Google and Apple have pretty much sewn up the existing smartphone market. Google’s Android OS is now on more than 300 devices and is approaching 500,000 activations a day, while Apple is now four years in the smartphone market and is about to bring out the iPhone 5.

“For my iPhone-using friends: the Google+ iPhone app has been submitted to the App Store (no not today, sometime prior to today) and is awaiting approval,” Joy wrote yesterday.

She later qualified this to include iPad devices as she tends to refer to all iOS apps as iPhone apps.
