Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources

Eamon Ryan TD, is the Government minister responsible for communications, energy and natural resources. He revealed his "big idea" of how computing and the internet can help save the planet.

Cosgrave

Paddy Cosgrave, International Telecommunications Union Global Youth Forum

Paddy Cosgrave is the chairman of the International Telecommunications Union Global Youth Forum, and in January 2008, was appointed by the United Nation’s Global Alliance for ICT and Development as one of the UN’s 10 eLeaders for ICT and Youth. He is also the organiser of the Dublin Web Summit, and spoke about web usability studies.

Iain Dale, writer, blogger and reviewer

Iain Dale is the second-most read blogger across all of Europe, according to the latest Wikio rankings. He revealed his experience as a blogger, and talked about the power of blogging, as well as Twitter.

Nick Blunden, Profero

Nick Blunden is managing director of Profero, the world’s leading independent digital communications group. He talked about not confusing social media with social marketing.

Niels Thogersen, new media specialist

Niels Thogersen is the former director of communications for the European Commission, founding member of the European Communications Academy, and vice-president of the Club of Venice. He talked about effectively getting a message across online.

Benoit

Benoit Thieulin, Le Netscouade

Benoit Thieulin is the co-founder of La Netscouade web agency. He was appointed head of new media to the French prime minister in 2001, and head of the European Information Centre in 2005. In 2007, he led the web campaign of presidential candidate Ségolène Royal, and that June he and four associates created La Netscouade. Benoit joined other well-known faces in European media at the Dublin Web Summit to discuss coming to grips with social media.

Julian

Julian March, Sky News

Julian March is the executive producer of the award-wining Sky News website. Julian has been leading changes in the way news is not only received by an audience, but also created by individuals, from iPhone Apps to Twitter reporting and beyond. In 2005, Julian won a Royal Television Society Award for Innovation for an on-screen ticker allowing survivors of the Asian tsunami to get a message home to loved ones. At the Dublin Web Summit, he talked about delivering news online.

Clark

Stephen Clark, European Parliament

Stephen Clark is the head of web for the European Parliament. His main focus this past year had been on the design and delivery of the Parliament’s online communications campaign for the European elections in June 2009, both on and off the website. Stephen’s team is also responsible for the daily publication of news headlines on the Parliament’s website in 22 languages. At the Dublin Web Summit, he spoke about what is attempting to be done with social media.

Leach

Jimmy Leach, The Independent

Jimmy Leach is the online editorial director for The Independent. He is the former head of the British prime minister’s digital PR operation, serving under both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. He oversaw the launch of the Downing Street petitions website, was director of digital at public relations agency Freud and previously worked for the Guardian’s website:guardian.co.uk. He talked about making money with respect to online content at the Dublin Web Summit.
