New to Slack or simply hoping to learn some more tricks? This infographic has you covered.
There is a wide range of remote-working tools that many of us have been getting familiar with in recent weeks while adjusting to working from home. But one of the big names is Slack, a messaging platform that’s simple to use for collaborating and keeping in touch with your team.
At Silicon Republic, we’ve been using Slack for some time and, naturally, have picked up some tips and tricks along the way, from using the platform’s Slackbot to send us handy reminders and creating different channels for different teams and topics.
But there’s still plenty more you can do with Slack, whether you’re using it for work communications or some comic relief chats.
If you’re interested in exploring some more, Net Credit has created an infographic with 45 Slack tips, from keyboard shortcuts to integrating apps. Pressing Command/Ctrl, Shift and Y, for example, allows you to set a status that your co-workers can see – emojis included – to show if you’re on lunch, taking a phone call or don’t want to be disturbed.
Slack can be a great place to have those water-cooler conversations that were commonplace in the office, but if you need to put your head down and get a task done, you can simply edit your notifications and mute different channels.
According to Net Credit, integrating other apps into your Slack dashboard “offers you functions you won’t even realise you were missing until you try them”.
“Simple Poll allows you to quickly canvass opinions on anything from the latest report to the office’s favourite reality show,” it says. “You can also install Slack-ready apps to help plan your lunch or remember colleagues’ birthdays.”
