The owners of property website Daft.ie have acquired competing website Property.ie for an undisclosed sum, it emerged last night.

Property.ie was originally launched 10 years ago and is one of Ireland’s oldest property websites.

Since the acquisition, the site has undergone an extensive redesign and uses the latest Web 2.0 technologies.

It also lists property for sale from over 90pc of Irish estate agents.

The owners of Daft.ie, Daft Media, said it will continue to run Property.ie in parallel to Daft.ie and will be investing significantly in driving traffic to Property.ie over the next twelve months.

“Having already cemented the No 1 position in the marketplace with Daft.ie, we aim to use this new title to compete more aggressively with the No 2 and 3 players in the market,” explained Daft.ie’s chief operating officer, Odhran Ginnity.

He said home owners will be able to have all their properties listed on both www.daft.ie and www.property.ie for the cost of one subscription, “resulting in more leads at no extra cost.”

The latest audited report from ABC (April 2008) shows traffic of 75 million page impressions and 974,595 unique users per month on Daft.ie.
