Samsung in major Irish push

Samsung is quadrupling its investment in the Irish market and is aiming for sales of between 4-500,000 handsets in Ireland in 2008, has learned.

Since entering the Irish market, Samsung has seen sales increase by 100pc. It expects growth of 50pc across its product lines.

Part of the investment will see an expanded Irish sales and marketing department headquartered in Sandyford, Co Dublin. The expanded office will be operational from early next year.

The headquarters will include a dedicated showroom displaying all of Samsung’s products including TVs, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, notebook PCs, printers and mobile phones.

Samsung has also planned a significant marketing spend to drive sales of its products across the island of Ireland and the appointment of reseller training teams to assist its local agents.

“We’ve seen incredible success for the Samsung brand in Ireland over the past two years,” said Anthony Marsella, chief marketing officer, Samsung UK and Ireland. “This year marks the beginning of a significant investment period for us in Ireland across the board. We’ve been building great relationships with our channels and resellers and now we feel that we are able to fully service the market here. Samsung plans to work closely with its partners to support joint business growth.”

Next year will see Samsung launching many new products onto the Irish marketplace, bringing to the market world-class technology such as the highly anticipated Armani mobile phone.
