Mobile operator O2 has just launched a new mobile TV service called ‘O2 TV’, offering TV channels including RTE News Now, CNN, the Travel Channel, Sky Sports and Sky News.

O2 TV is a streaming data service coming in two different consumer packages and will work on a wide range of 3G/HSDPA capable handsets.

The O2 Lifestyle Pack will offer a combination of entertainment, music, and news with channels including RTE News Now, CNN and the Travel Channel, while the Sky Sports & News Pack will provide live sport and news via Sky Sports 1, 2 & 3 and Sky News.

New O2 customers signing up before 9th September will get a free 30-day promotional trial and existing prepay and postpay customers can either pay €1 for a 24 hour pass or subscribe to a 30 day pass for €5 (O2 Lifestyle Pack) or €6 (Sky Sports & News Pack).

"We are delighted to be introducing a new mobile TV service for our customers. The two packages we have put together will give customers the widest choice of channels across news, sports and entertainment at extremely competitive rates," said Karl Aherne, Category Manager, Digital & Entertainment – Telefónica O2 Ireland.
