Cable TV and broadband provider UPC has reported 16.5m views of On Demand content since its launch last May.

Soaps appeared to be the most popular On Demand content so far this year, with Tallafornia, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Fair City and Life on the Inside leading the charge.

Top movies included Taken 2, Skyfall, Madagascar 3, Europe’s Most Wanted and Wrong Turn 5.

“Over 87pc of our On Demand-capable customers have used UPC On Demand TV since launch with over 16.5m views accessing our great content to date,” explained David Kent, content development manager at UPC.

“It’s hugely popular and our customers have totally embraced the concept of arranging their TV viewing around their schedule.

“There have been some significant developments for On Demand TV in recent weeks. We have refreshed all our BBC content adding favourites, including Mistresses and The Office.

“In February, we offered UPC customers a first in Irish television, making IFTA award-winning film Mea Maxima Culpa available to view On Demand at the same time as its cinema release.”
