Twitter updates its iPad app – sleek new look, full-screen photos

18 Sep 2012

Twitter has updated its iPad app, giving it a cleaner and sleek new appearance with ‘Home’, ‘Connect’, ‘Discover’ and ‘Me’ buttons positioned on the left-hand side of the screen.

The updated app is almost identical in form and function to the recently rejuvenated iPhone app, which has the function buttons running beneath streams.

The key difference is the ability to expand tweets with a single touch.

Users are also able to track interactions of other tweeters and get such information as who has followed or mentioned you, retweeted or favourited tweets.

Photos in your Twitter stream can also be made full-screen by tapping on the photo.

Discovery has also been boosted with the ability to see what topics are trending and discover new accounts to follow.

The ‘Me’ section includes space for a ‘header’ for your profile which will then appear across your tweets on the iPad, mobile apps and Twitter.com.
