Broadband eases the
grindstone for students

Eircom has joined forces with revision resource Exam Support to enable Irish Leaving Cert students to engage in interactive grinds using broadband.

The www.examsupport.ie site combines cutting-edge technology and broadband applications such as video and audio lessons, full course notes and frequently asked questions for all major Leaving Cert subjects.

The website boasts a number of Ireland’s high profile teachers who are now available to provide personalised tutor support to exam students in any broadband-enabled home in Ireland.

“With teachers of the calibre of George Humphrey, author of the current maths curriculum books, delivering tutorials and providing some of the best study notes available, having ExamSupport.ie in your home is like having your own personal teacher at your disposal,” explained John McDonnell, sales director of ExamSupport.ie.

“The website allows students to increase their revision efficiency in an affordable manner. This personalised revision tuition allows students to work at their own pace in their own home and be privy to the expertise and insight of some of Ireland’s leading teachers,” McDonnell said.

Students can select specific topics within a subject area to focus on so they don’t have to sit through an entire course just to brush up on one area. In addition, each session can be repeated if needed, right up to the exam.

The site covers accounting, maths, English, Irish, French, biology, chemistry at Leaving Cert Higher Level and geography at Leaving Cert Higher and Lower Level. It is understood that additional Pass Leaving Cert subjects will be available from next September.

Parents can choose to purchase a full subject-set for revising an entire subject comprising 15 revision packs. Or if a student requires selective assistance in key areas, individual revision packs can be purchased on selected topics such as Matrices in Maths or Yeats in poetry. Each pack contains a pre-recorded lesson and pre-recorded exam answers, guiding students on how to approach the questions as well as full course notes for both.

An ExamSupport.ie revision pack is available for each major topic for €18.75 with discounts of up to 35pc applying for purchasing each additional topic. Eircom says broadband is required to make the most of the website and all Eircom broadband customers will receive 30pc off the subscription to exam support revision packs.

“ExamSupport.ie is a perfect example of the benefits that broadband delivers to the home,” explains Debbie Byrne, director of consumer marketing at Eircom. “This educational tool offers enormous value to both parents and students by providing high-quality revision support to families across Ireland.”
