26 Sep 2007

University College Dublin’s Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre NovaUCD has added another name to its cluster of 22 high-tech industries in the form of medical technology firm Alltracel.

Alltracel Healthcare Services (AHS), a new division of Alltracel, has moved to NovaUCD to carry out scientific research and work with firms in the pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare technologies sectors.

NovaUCD was officially opened in 2003 and has helped 125 knowledge-intensive companies develop their business. The recent AIB seed capital fund of €30m is a key part of developing further high-potential startups here.

Among companies located at NovaUCD are energy management firm Lightwave Technologies, software company Eventznet and the creators of ClixSmart mobile navigation technology ChangingWorlds.

Alltracel already has strong research links with UCD and cited NovaUCD’s strong track record in innovation as a reason to locate there.

“We have always had a great working relationship with UCD in particular with the Conway Institute so we are very pleased to be able to base Alltracel Healthcare Services in NovaUCD, ” said Dr Keith Real, chief scientific officer with Alltracel.

“NovaUCD is a centre for innovation and technology which sits well with Alltracel’s corporate vision.”
