Software quality specialist SQS is to create 20 new jobs at a new global centre of excellence it is establishing in Ireland after signing a collaborative agreement with the Innovation Value Institute.
A spokesman confirmed SQS is investing €200,000 over three years in the project.
The new centre of excellence is set to generate up to 20 new jobs and will be located in the new SQS offices in Dublin.
The collaboration will see the two organisations work closely together to develop a set of tools and measuring techniques to more effectively manage and measure the business value of IT investments.
Ireland’s Innovation Value Institute, spearheaded by Intel senior vice-president Martin Curley, has developed a set of tools and measuring techniques associated with helping CIOs and CTOs more effectively manage and measure the business value of IT investments.
Global centre of excellence
SQS, through its new patronage membership with IVI, is now starting a process of training and certifying its consultants in the use and value of the IVI’s IT Capability Maturity Framework (IT-CMF). The company also plans to establish its Ireland base as a global centre of excellence for the roll out of the IT-CMF service across all countries in which it operates, including the US, South Africa, and other European countries.
“SQS’ mission is to help organisations improve the quality of the IT programmes they invest in,” SQS managing director in Ireland Phil Codd explained.
“The IT Capability Maturity Framework developed by the IVI through many years of research and development, seeks to help an organisation understand and optimise its investment in IT.
“We believe that by bringing the strengths of both SQS and IVI to the market, we will more effectively enable our clients to benchmark, identify IT capability gaps and improve the value that their IT delivers to their company.”
By open collaboration with leading academics and industry practitioners, the non-profit IVI is establishing a recognised global reputation for developing best practice standards and systems for measuring the value of IT innovation for particular businesses.
More than 90 global organisations are already collaborating with the IVI, including companies such as BP, SAP, Cisco, Fujitsu, Boston Consulting Group, BNY Mellon and Ernst & Young.
