Aertv and Today FM’s Back to Basics puts Irish musicians in the online spotlight

2 Oct 2012

A new Irish music initiative from Aertv and Today FM aims to showcase unsigned music talent in Ireland by broadcasting a new band every week until 2013, exclusively online and on mobile devices.

At its launch, Back to Basics features 12 acoustic videos from new Irish artists like Delorentos, Little Xs for Eyes and Bouts, performing in picturesque locations around Dublin. Each week more videos will be added, with a minimum of 25 artists to feature by next year.

Visitors to the Back to Basics channel on Aertv can like, tweet and share their favourite videos across social media channels, making this a new digital platform to discover and promote Irish musicians.

“A year ago we launched Ireland’s first TV music channel and now we are going one step further with Back to Basics,” said Philippe Brodeur, director of Aertv. “By putting a spotlight on new Irish music we hope to give a new generation of musicians a voice that is distinct, new and reflects the times we live in. There is so much talent in this country – now is the time to let it be heard both at home and abroad.”

Aertv, which celebrates its first birthday this week, will also be live streaming the Hard Working Class Heroes festival on a dedicated channel for the second year running from 4-6 October.
