Application development is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and the number of app developers and their potential salaries are growing steadily, a new infographic shows.
The app market itself was worth US$5bn as of 2011, with mobile application revenue estimated to reach US$46bn by 2016, reveals the infographic commissioned by the Application Developers Alliance and designed by infogr8.
The infographic also points out that the average app developer is a well-educated 33-year-old male who earns an average salary of US$75,000 a year. That salary is higher than that paid to lawyers (US$64,000), doctors (US$57,000) and teachers (US$43,000).
Looking ahead the future, the infographic indicates the industry won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Annual app downloads are forecast to reach 18bn by 2015 on tablets, and 56bn by 2015 on smartphones.
