Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab to be upgraded to ‘Gingerbread’

16 May 2011

Samsung has revealed that users of the Galaxy S smartphone and the Galaxy Tab tablet computer will receive an upgrade to Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread.’

The upgrade will also be available for the Galaxy Ace, Gio, Fit and Mini devices.

The upgrade will begin in the UK and Ireland and Nordic countries in the weeks ahead before spreading to the rest of the world.

The upgrade will be delivered through Kies, Samsung’s synchronisation software rather than over-the-air.

The move from Froyo to Gingerbread will provide the users with a better interface, 3D graphics capabilities as well as near field communications support.
