Heineken Cup site launched for rugby fans to interact

Heineken has launched a new website where Irish rugby fans can interact during a match online through a Live Match Tracker.

The website allows fans to share their predictions and thoughts on the game live through this tracker.

“Dual Screening, the habit of watching TV while using social media, has inspired Heineken’s new rugby site,” said Aisling O’Brien, Heineken Sponsorships brand manager.

“Heineken is adding to the match day experience by offering valuable, real-time match stats and information as fans watch the game on TV.”

Similar match-tracking tools have been used with the NFL for American football. This will see the first official Irish implementation of the technology.

The Heineken Cup also includes a Legends Blog, where an Irish rugby legend shares his expert opinion on the matches.

The Live Match Tracker streams live commentary and brings the latest stats as they happen. The site also provides a match archive, which allows fans to see the game stats again.

Fans on the go can access the local information on match day through Heineken’s Where To Go app, which maps out the best pubs and stadiums throughout all of the Heineken Cup cities.

The site also provides an official Heineken Cup Timeline, allowing fans to brush up on the 16-year history of the Heineken Cup.

It also includes a Road to the Final competition, letting site members predict games per round in order to win a trip to the Heineken Cup Final in Cardiff in May 2011.
