Samsung will pre-load the RTÉ Radio 1 Documentary on One app onto all of its Android devices in the Irish market from now on.
More than 55,000 Samsung Galaxy phones which will be sold in Ireland will have the Documentary on One app built in. As well as the Galaxy range, eight other Samsung smartphones and tablets on Android will also have the app preloaded.
The Doc on One app will also be included in their service upgrade when they bring devices up to date with the latest version of Android.
The app features more than 800 radio documentaries from RTÉ Radio 1.
“Samsung’s rationale is that they want quality local apps pre-bundled on their devices in Ireland and RTÉ Radio 1 is delighted that the Doc on One app is to be included as one of them,” said Dave Timpson from RTÉ Radio’s Digital Platforms.
“This will represent a huge exposure for the Doc on One in particular and the introduction of this strand of RTÉ Radio 1’s output to this new audience is extremely welcome,” he said.
The app is already available for iOS and Android devices.
