Micro-blogging site Twitter has begun playing to its strengths, highlighting useful third-party applications on the right-hand-side of its screen.
The move by Twitter, which is non-commercial, should help to consolidate new users and make them aware of some of the useful tools and services that third-party developers have created around the social-networking site.
Useful tools being highlighted include Twittervision, which provides a global map presenting Tweets as they happen worldwide, and Tweetie, a full-feature Twitter client for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Other applications being promoted include ExecTweets, a social-networking site that helps professionals find and follow one another on Twitter.
