Acquisitive Irish information and communications technology (ICT) services provider Calyx Group is to bring its nine divisions, currently operating separately, under the one brand as it targets a generous slice of the €4bn Irish ICT market.
The rebranding initiative will see security specialist Entropy and business software and e-business solutions firm Mentec adopt the Calyx brand name in Ireland from today. The move will compliment the group’s other Calyx businesses, voice & data and training.
In the UK, Matrix Communications, Network Partners, Mentec International, ITS Technology Services and ServiceTec will each come under the Calyx umbrella.
This move will make Calyx an end-to-end supplier of ICT services, ranging from network and professional services to support and managed services across Ireland and the UK.
In its first financial update since going private in July last year, Calyx said it achieved turnover in 2007 of €135 million, up 54pc on the previous year. Ongoing expansion at the group has seen turnover more than treble over the last two years.
“Calyx plans to more than double in size again over the next few years,” Maurice Healy, chief executive of Calyx explained. “There are plenty of opportunities out there in Ireland and the UK, and we plan to continue our successful track record of expansion through acquisition and organic growth.”
“The rebranding of Calyx companies provides the platform to support this planned growth and expansion. Under a common brand name, Calyx will be better placed to absorb and integrate acquisitions as we continue to grow.”
Since 2002, Calyx has invested in a number of acquisitions, including ServiceTec (2007), Entropy, Matrix and Mentec (2006), ITS Technology Services UK (2005) and MTL (2003).
Calyx employs over 500 people across 12 locations in Ireland and the UK.
