New chairman to head up Irish venture capital body

Veteran venture capitalist John Tracey has been named as the new chairman of the €1.5bn Irish Venture Capital Association.

Tracey is chief executive of TVC (Trinity Venture Capital) Holdings, the publicly quoted investment company.

He succeeds Joe Concannon, investment director with the venture capital division of Bank of Scotland (Ireland).

Tracey has more than 20 years of experience in venture capital, having previously worked in the semiconductor industry.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from University College Dublin.

Members of the IVCA have invested €1.5 billion in Ireland over the last 10 years and have leveraged a further €1.5 billion from international investors into the Irish market.
