UPC expansion paves way for 45 new call centre jobs

A deal struck between cable broadband provider UPC and Cork-based outsourced call centre provider Zevas will see 45 jobs created in Carrigaline, Co Cork.

The 12-month contract between UPC and Zevas to handle increased call centre workload will see Zevas support UPC through the provision of telesales and web sales services.

“Zevas has worked with UPC for the past six years. This agreement has warranted our company to scale up staff numbers,” explained Con Lehane, CEO of Zevas.

“Overall, the value of the contract is worth €2m to Zevas, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with one of Ireland’s leading telecommunications companies in Ireland. 

“As a result, we at Zevas can create local job opportunities for candidates who are looking to be part of a great team where we never confuse effort with results that represents our mantra,” Lehane said.

As a result of its network investment programme, which will see UPC invest €90m this year alone in Ireland, job opportunities are arising with many of its contractors. 

In an announcement in Carlow in February, UPC created an additional 25 jobs through its partnership with Integrated Communications Limited.

“This is a significant announcement in the current climate and I congratulate both companies for taking the initiative,” said Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan, TD.

“Recognising the ever-evolving changes that occur within the telecommunications sector, the 45 jobs is to be welcomed in the area and the local economy will benefit from the transaction,” she added.
