Serial entrepreneur Gavin Dunne has created a new online business that will enable small firms and individuals market themselves directly to business, in a bid to counter the downward spiral of trading.
According to the Small Firms Association’s (SFA) Summer Business Sentiments Survey 2009, 50pc of small firms will restructure, decrease in size or close down in the next three months.
Entrepreneur Dunne has created a new online business Zumpty.ie, which will help firms to filter and match consumer briefs with online quotes.
Dunne established Clear Solutions Telecom in October 2001 when he was just 21. He sold the company to WorldCom in December 2002. In 2003, Gavin partnered with members of the Western Australian Taxi Association to start Clear Advertising in Perth, Australia.
Clear Advertising was based on a patent for in-taxi advertising and he sold the company within the year. He has also made his mark in the overseas luxury housing market with ‘The Pearl Residences’ development on Boracay island in the Philippines, a collection of 181 luxurious apartments developed and managed in partnership with Filipino hotelier, Greg Sanson. Dunne is now returning to Ireland to tap into the online business with his latest venture.
Zumpty.ie works by filtering and matching consumer briefs with supplier quotes according to location, price or timeline. At its most basic level, the site will also serve as a listing service for businesses. As a promotion to launch the website to local businesses, Zumpty.ie is offering the first three months for free to companies registering for one year.
“Unlike similar websites, Zumpty.ie offers a comprehensive set of marketing tools to small businesses, including a webpage option, quotes via text alert, a listing service and a reference facility, all for a one-off annual fee. We will be supporting the new launch with an all-Ireland marketing push.
“Ireland’s small firms are in the midst of challenging times, which means they need to look at alternative ways of marketing themselves. With Irish people spending more time than ever before on the internet, Zumpty.ie is a cost-effective way for small companies and individuals to reach a range of new customers and compete for business quickly,” Dunne said.
