Cubic Telecom opens new Cork office

5 Dec 2007

Low-cost international calls company Cubic Telecom opened new offices this week in Cork to complement its recently opened office in Vancouver, Canada, which is the base for the chief commercial officer, Sean O’Mahony.

The opening demonstrates the growth the company has seen since it launched MAXroam, its new SIM card that allows global travellers to make savings on international calls, the company said.

Launched only four months ago, new SIM sales are now exceeded by top-up ‘credits’, indicating the product is being used widely by its customer base.

Cubic Telecom recently formed a strategic alliance with Florida-based Global Roaming Inc, which will consolidate its presence in the US which at present accounts for almost 70pc of sales.

Cubic Telecom is headed by Pat Phelan. The company has raised funding of €3m from property developer Declan O’Donohoe and has struck a deal with Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli to manufacture its own-branded phone devices.
