Aer Lingus in new online strategy to push package holidays

1 Sep 2011

Airliner Aer Lingus has forged a partnership with ClickandGo.com and the Travel Department to offer sun holidays, city breaks, escorted holidays and cruises via aerlingus.com.

The move will allow the airline to combine package deals with scheduled flights to the destinations it serves.

The Aer Lingus website will include a new price comparison tool to show the consumer where they can get the same holiday for less by moving their planned departure date by a few days.

Aer Lingus flies more than 10 million passengers a year to 72 destinations throughout the world.  Aerlingus.com is its primary sales channel accounting for well in excess of 75pc of all flights booked.

In March the company invested in a new web content management system.

Yesterday Aer Lingus reported year-on-year improvement in operating profit for Q2 2011 to €25.9m, with total passenger numbers also up by 8pc for Q2. The carrier’s Q2 2010 operating profit was €18.8m.
