Apple Watch and iPhone on agenda as Apple invites media to 21 March event

The words and colours suggest developments in Apple Watch and iPhone

Apple has invited media to a special event on 21 March at its Cupertino headquarters, which appears to big up the likelihood of an Apple Watch 2 or new strap options. Apple is also expected to unveil a new special edition 4-inch iPhone and a 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The invite is emblazoned with the words ‘Let us loop you in’ and the colouring of the Apple logo is reminiscent of the Rose Gold, Silver, Gold and Space Gray colours used on its latest generation of iPhones.

Among the rumoured devices for the 21 March event is a second generation Apple Watch, or Apple Watch 2, as well as a confectionary of new straps that possibly means expanding on its relationship with Hermes and other fashion brands.

But chief among the rumours are those of a new 4in device, dubbed the iPhone 5se, that will include variants of the M9 and A9 processors and may feature an always-on Siri.

There have also been reports that Apple may not be revealing an iPad mini 3 and may discontinue its iPad Air line.

Instead, what it may focus on is a new traditional-sized 9.7in version of the iPad Pro. Last September, Apple launched a 12.9in version of the device with Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard.

These are rumours and, as usual, only Apple really knows. Apple, such a tease.
