Ascend G 300 becomes first Huawei smartphone on Vodafone Ireland

28 Jun 2012

Vodafone Ireland will begin retailing Huawei smartphones, starting with the latest from the Ascend range, the Ascend G 300.

The Ascend G 300 comes with a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 1GHz processor, 1500mAh battery and 2GB memory.

The phone operates on Android Gingerbread 2.3, but users will be given the chance to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later in the summer.

Huawei’s unique Android platform allows one-step access to dedicated applications from the unlock screen and a suite of entertainment, social networking and organisation widgets.

The phone also features a 5MP camera with autofocus, flash and 4x digital zoom.

The Huawei Ascend G 300 is available in black chrome for €129 on pay-as-you-go or free on bill pay online and in Vodafone Ireland stores nationwide.

Update: Thanks to reader Conor McCarthy, who informed us on Facebook that the previously released Vodafone Smart 858 was actually the Huawei U8160, only it didn’t feature any of the Chines manufacturer’s branding. An excellent spot, which makes the Ascend G 300 the first Huawei-branded smartphone on Vodafone Ireland.
