The Samsung Galaxy S II

Samsung has reportedly said the successor of the Galaxy S II won’t be revealed at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Instead, the company is choosing to show it at a dedicated event closer to the phone’s release.

Samsung told TechRadar that the Galaxy S III will be revealed at a Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to when the finished device is ready for release.

The Samsung Galaxy S II was first released at the end of April. It featured a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 480 x 800 resolution touchscreen, a dual core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and was 8.43mm thick.

Samsung’s flagship Android smartphone proved to be quite popular among consumers, selling 5m units by the end of July.

Currently, nothing has been revealed about the next version of the phone, though many expect a faster processor and an improved screen.
