An iPad app that provides a visual guide to pregnancy and fetal development not only won the overall Grand Prix honour at The Appys 2013 in Dublin last night, but Life in the Womb also won in three categories.
Life in the Womb also took the honour as Best Educational App, Best Tablet App and Best Medical App at the awards that honour the best in app design and development.
Dublin agency Redwind Software and The Science Picture Company in conjunction with the National Maternity Hospital developed Life in the Womb. The app costs stg£2.99 on iTunes.
Des Doris, organiser of The Appys, said the Grand Prix went to Life in the Womb because the judges felt it took a huge leap forward when it comes to content, design and development to provide an entirely new experience for users.
Another multiple Appys award winner is ShowPal. Self-described as Ireland’s first synced TV-viewing companion app, ShowPal won in the Best Entertainment App and Best Lifestyle App categories.
ShowPal is a free iOS app available on iTunes for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
