Today, Vodafone Ireland launched a new service to help business customers make better use of tablets in the workplace by providing them with a smart device management system.
Managed Tablet is a new suite of services from Vodafone that allows businesses to maintain visibility and control over company IT assets and data when introducing tablets and other mobile devices for staff.
According to Forrester Research, 25pc of businesses are now using, piloting or planning to deploy tablets across their workforce. “A key obstacle to tablet adoption by businesses has been the issue of retaining control of costs and managing data across a fleet of devices,” said Vodafone Ireland head of corporate and public sector Leo O’Leary. “This new end-to-end service from Vodafone offers the solutions and security to address that.”
Vodafone’s mobile date network was previously certified as the best for the iPad 2 by device and network testing firm Metrico, putting the network in a good position for business users.
The Managed Tablet service offers a choice of tablets, data connectivity plans to suit the business’s needs, configuration for the corporate environment (whether the device is employee or company-owned) and security through Vodafone Secure Device Manager.
It allows businesses to secure and manage smart devices through an easy-to-use console that can support an unlimited number of devices and mobile data. This way, IT administrators can centrally deploy, secure, monitor, manage and support corporate and employee-liable mobile devices, and administrator access to the console can be customised, giving individuals different levels of access depending on their job. In the case of a security breach, devices can also be wiped from the central management system.
